Awards
The Olinga Foundation for Human Development awarded by the Ghana Philanthropy Award 2024 for inspiring Literacy Change it was designed to identify and publicly recognize outstanding social responsibility at the corporate/institutional and individual levels.
In February 2023, the Olinga Foundation for Human Development was presented recognition award for the valuable contribution made to the implementation of the USAID Partnership for Education, Learning Activity in collaboration with the Ministry of Education from 2014 to 2023.
Recognition: The Ghana Education Service (GES) has endorsed the programme at district, regional and national levels and has encouraged its expansion in all districts of the country. The Enlightening the Hearts Literacy Campaign of the Olinga Foundation, was ranked 11 out of 300 NGOs by The Hewlett Packard Foundation award for the best education programmes in Africa under its Ashoka
Award for Education. In 2012 the Olinga Foundation also won the All Children Reading Award which was a large grant from USAID to scale up its programme in Ghana. A total of 35 Award winners were selected internationally out of 400 NGO applicants—the Olinga Foundation was one of the few African NGO award winners demonstrating efficacy and efficiency in literacy programming.
ALL CHILDREN READING
All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge for Development (ACR GCD) is a global competition that leverages science and technology to create and apply scalable solutions to improve literacy skills in developing countries.
Launched in 2011 by the US Agency for International Development (USAID),World Vision and the Australian Government, ACR GCD solicits creative, cost-effective innovations from the global science, technology, education and broader development communities to improve reading for children in early grades.
Olinga Foundation for Human Development is one of the 32 finalists out of the 450 NGOs globally competing for "The All Children Reading Award" grant by USAID, World Vision and Australian Aid which seeks to provide 48,000 children in Ghana access to literacy methods, training for teachers and literacy primers across four of Olinga's target districts over the next two years.
Olinga Foundation demonstrates innovation, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in its literacy approaches to helping children learn to read among the target populations they worked in across Ghana.
